The Gold Coast is home to a whole heap of local celebrities, and surprise surprise they all love the place. We put them in front of a camera and they went nuts telling us what floats their boat about the Gold Coast - this wasn't paid, it's not scripted, its just real people telling you what they dig about their home town.
Pro surfer Bede Durbidge gives you the low down on the best breaks, Television Identity Shelley Craft gets excited talking about her favourite haunts for brekky, lunch and dinner, and swim coach supreme Dennis Cottrell tells you why he reckons the Gold Coast is the breeding ground of champions.
Great Australian (and mayor!) Ron Clarke drops some hints on where to get out and about, and the gorgeous Surfers Paradise Meter Maids give you the skinny on where to party like its 1999.

Hi I'm Shelly Craft I'm a travel reporter on TV and I choose to live here on the sunny Gold Coast Mermaid Beach in particular.
The best part about living or even being on the Gold Coast its all about lifestyle so when you're here make sure you just get out an enjoy it and for me it all starts at Cafe Republic for breakfast Mermaid Beach then you've got to head to the Beach Shack at Currumbin for lunch and while your there check out Currumbin Alley surfs always pretty good when your down there.
If you really want to feel like a local the only thing to do is make sure your on the highway which is actually the beach from about 6 o'clock in the morning its where everybody is for there morning walk. Girls lifestyle equals shopping so why don't you take yourselves down to Circle on Cavill its new and there are some great designer labels down there for you to check out.
Now you all know about the theme parks of course some great new rides at any of them Seaworld, Movie World, Wet & Wild, Dreamworld have a look at those while you are here.
So I've given you a spot for breakfast Cafe Republic Mermaid Beach and I've given you a spot for lunch the Beach Shack at Currumbin now for dinner here's the locals tip- Cha Cha at Broadbeach its Japanese, its quirky its great.
One thing you must do when you're on the Coast is hit a surf club, you've got to feel like a local at a surf club and mine is Northcliffe. Northcliffe really is the place to be at sunset watch the moon rise over the ocean and have a cold bevy out on the balcony you'll find it between surfers and Broadbeach and of course you'll see our lifesavers in action it is the home club of Zane Holmes you might see them training while your there.
